RPG random battle screen

Wondering how I could implement a random encounter screen, a la old school Final Fantasy games. I’ve thought about just moving character map, then drawing additional party members + enemies, but how does this work in MMO?

Would be awesome to overlay a second “screen” or canvas or something…

The idea is in place in the engine but still completed to propose a superimposed scene.

There are then 2 solutions:

Either create a GUI that opens (we can stop the player on the map with player.canMove = false (server side).
We can teleport the player with a dynamic map which would be the battlefield:
- The player's positions must be kept in memory
- Create a dynamic map (https://docs.rpgjs.dev/classes/scene-map-server.html#example-to-use-in-module)
- teleport the player on it
- realise the combat gameplay
- teleport the player back to the original map after the end of the battle

Ok the second option was one I came up with, and could work with a per-player dynamic map. Glad my idea was on the right path.

Can we dig more into #1? Is there a way to superimpose one scene over another? Like have a map in a GUI dialog?
