We're thrilled to share some exciting updates regarding RPGJS Studio and the progress we've made in game creation using RPGJS. First up, we're happy to announce a significant advancement in the development process: it’s now possible to generate much more complex and beautiful maps. The best part? You don’t need to be a graphic designer to achieve this! All the maps are procedurally generated, making it easier than ever to create visually stunning game worlds. But that's not all—users will also be able to generate events and even gameplay features such as monster battles within the game!
RPGJS Version 5: What's New?
Next, we're proud to give you a sneak peek into the progress of RPG.js version 5. So, what are the major new features? First and foremost, we've focused heavily on improving the client-side experience. The entire client has been redefined and revamped to bring a lot more responsiveness. This improvement comes through a brand-new library called CanvasEngine, allowing for extremely performant creation of components, animations, and richer rendering experiences using the latest version of Pixi.js. If you've seen the latest RPGJS Studio video, you'll notice that Canvas Engine is the technology behind those beautiful client-side animations.
Additionally, a built-in combat system will be included right out of the box. One of the biggest shifts in RPGJS is that we’ve moved away from requiring frameworks like Vue.js or React within RPG.js itself. Instead, elements like dialog boxes and joystick will now be handled directly through CanvasEngine. This streamlines development and keeps things simple, without needing to worry about managing too many different frameworks.
That said, for developers who still want to use Vue.js, React, Angular, Svelte, or other frameworks, they can still be used externally in combination with RPG.JS, opening up possibilities for integration with features like Web3. We're also working hard to make RPGJS version 5 as compatible as possible with version 4, though there may be a few migrations required.
Looking Ahead and Staying Connected
For MMORPG, there are also some exciting new ideas in the works, but those will likely come in a future version. We’ll share more details as things develop.
Lastly, we're making a big push to stay transparent and connected with our community. We’re setting up official Discord and Twitter channels, so you can easily follow the latest news and updates regarding RPGJS. Don't forget, rpgjs.studio is now on the whitelist, so make sure to sign up if you haven't already!
